Spyro Reignited Trilogy Disc Only Contains One Game

On Sept. 21, publisher Activision and developer Toys for Bob are set to release Spyro Reignited Trilogy on PS4 and Xbox One. The trilogy will include the kickoff iii Spyro games including Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Each of the games has been remastered for modern consoles and HD TVs, but all is non what it seems for the physical edition.

The first three Spyro games originally released on the PlayStation, meaning they could each fit on a CD. So in 2022, even with the visuals being of a much college quality, there should be ample space bachelor to fit all the games on a 50GB Blu-ray disc. However, anyone buying the Spyro trilogy in September, regardless of if they cull the PS4 or Xbox One version, is going to be in for a surprise as the disc just contains the beginning game.

On the official website for the trilogy collection, the packaging and wording has been updated recently to state "Requires Content Download" on the box and "Games 2 and 3 require download via net" in the site blurb. It seems a decision was taken not to burn all three games on to one disc, instead a download is required to play them.

The question is, why? Typically in these situations it comes down to time. The programmer isn't prepare past the appointment the game disc needs to be pressed, and then a day-one patch ends up being required by anyone purchasing the disc. But with the Spyro games they aren't new, they are just updates then this actually shouldn't happen. If it has, then I'chiliad sure many gamers would argue the release date should be pushed back rather than not shipping the games on the disc.

As it stands right now, purchasing a physical copy of Spyro Reignited Trilogy requires an internet connection to play fully. And while I know that nosotros all have like shooting fish in a barrel access to the internet in 2022, that doesn't make decisions like this any less infuriating and, in my view, wrong. Physical copies should include the content the front cover promises without any caveats.
